William Kentridge – I am not me, the horse is not mine
The exhibition “William Kentridge – I am not me, the horse is not mine” is an impressive eight-channel video installation by the renowned South African artist William Kentridge. Its realization posed significant technical challenges due to the architectural constraints of the Arsenał Gallery, including a relatively small exhibition space and a low-hanging ceiling.

Technical solutions applied in the installation:
Image projection:
- Projectors from the well-regarded brands Panasonic and BenQ were used to ensure high-quality image reproduction, precise detail rendering, and adaptability to the spatial limitations.
- Compact, high-brightness short-throw projectors enabled optimal placement of projections, despite the limited distance between the devices and the screens.
Video playback system:
- Synchronization of the eight video channels was a key aspect of the installation. Advanced BrightSign media players were deployed, providing reliable playback with perfect synchronization across the screens.
- This solution facilitated seamless integration of projection technologies with the rest of the system, a critical factor for such a complex installation.
Audio system:
- Equipment from Fohhn was utilized to deliver exceptional audio quality, overcoming the acoustic challenges of the compact space.
- A multi-channel audio setup ensured precise spatial distribution of sound, creating an immersive experience that enhanced the artistic narrative of the installation.
Space adaptation:
- The low ceiling necessitated precise positioning of projectors and speakers to maximize the use of available space without compromising the visual and auditory experience.
- All elements of the installation were arranged to allow easy movement within the room while maintaining technical and aesthetic cohesion.
Final outcome:
By employing state-of-the-art technologies and adapting them meticulously to the unique characteristics of the exhibition space, the installation “I am not me, the horse is not mine” offered visitors an incredibly engaging audiovisual experience. The advanced technical solutions successfully realized William Kentridge’s artistic vision, creating a harmonious and inspiring artistic environment.
