Ryoji Ikeda – Solo Exhibition
Ryoji Ikeda, an artist seamlessly merging art, science, and music, presented a remarkable solo exhibition at the Estonian National Museum. The exhibition featured two new works, the critical paths and vox aeterna, alongside his acclaimed data-verse 1/2/3 (2020). Eidotech Polska provided and installed the multimedia equipment necessary to bring these technically demanding projects to life, creating a cohesive experience that combined visuals, sound, and spatial design.
Technical solutions applied in the exhibition:
The critical paths:
- At the center of this work was a 25-meter LED video wall, installed on the ceiling, creating an immersive, large-format visual experience.
- The precise alignment of the LED panels ensured ultra-high-resolution visuals that perfectly complemented the intricately synchronized audio, enhancing the audiovisual impact of the installation.
Data-verse 1/2/3:
- Three Barco XDM-4K25 cinema projectors, with native 4K resolution and 23,500 ANSI lumens of brightness, were used to create a projection spanning over 30 meters in width.
- Advanced calibration achieved uniform brightness and color consistency across the entire projection surface, delivering a visually stunning representation of data and narrative complexity.
Vox aeterna:
- This multichannel audio work complemented the visual pieces by focusing on immersive soundscapes. The carefully designed audio setup captured the intricate structure of Ikeda’s sound compositions with precision.
The installation featured:
- 9 Genelec 8030 nearfield studio monitors, delivering exceptional sound quality and precise spatial audio reproduction.
- Fohhn AT-08 and XT-33 loudspeakers, enhancing spatial depth and clarity while seamlessly integrating with the visual elements.
- Fohhn XS-22 subwoofers, providing deep, resonant low frequencies to intensify the immersive experience.
- The entire system was configured as a multichannel setup, creating a unique auditory environment that deepened the visual narratives.
Spatial adaptation and integration:
- The installations required precise technical adaptation to the museum space. For the critical paths, the massive LED video wall was mounted on the ceiling, offering a unique perspective for viewers. Meanwhile, data-verse 1/2/3 and vox aeterna enriched the environment, creating a seamless dialogue between sound and visuals.
- The audiovisual systems were integrated with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a unified, multisensory experience.
Final outcome:
Ryoji Ikeda’s exhibition at the Estonian National Museum was a masterful fusion of cutting-edge technology and art. Through collaboration with Eidotech Polska, all elements—from large-scale projections to advanced sound systems—were executed with exceptional precision. Visitors were immersed in a unique environment where data, sound, and light converged to form new dimensions of artistic perception.
